Staffing and Recruitment
Question: Identify and analyze the challenges in staffing, especially with regards to personnel selection practices. Identify the best approaches to successful recruitment? Answer: Introduction For keeping a pace with the current competitive environment, strategic recruitment is gaining importance in the organization for its effectiveness and efficiencies (Shafique,2012). This assignment will be discussing on the challenges that the organizations face while staffing on the basis of personal selection process and the approaches to recruit successfully. Challenges in staffing with regards to personnel selection practices In the recent years, the number of people getting graduated has increased to a considerable rate. The numbers of graduates, post graduates are increasing which is becoming a challenge to the selection process of the organization (Claus Wehner et al. 2012). Now days youngsters have a changed attitude towards work life and value their freedom. They tend to gather information quickly through the help of internet. Approaches to successful recruitment Internet Recruiting- This is an effective method of recruitment since it is easier, most effective, and efficient and can handle a large of qualified candidates at a time with fast and measurable results (Groutage,2010). Internal Recruitment- This can be done through job posting, job bidding and employee referrals (Shafique,2012). This is also an effective method of recruitment since the candidates are received faster and managers can formulate fast decisions on recruitment. External recruitment- This recruitment is done from high school, vocational schools, community colleges, universities, colleges and etc (Claus Wehner et al. 2012). This method helps in bringing fresh ideas and skills from outside that can be an added advantage to the work group. Conclusion Through this assignment, we learned about the internal, external and internet recruitment. Moreover, we also had seen that higher education and attitude of youngsters has created a challenge to the staffing process. Reference List Journals Shafique,O. Personal Philosophy of Success Essay Example For Students
Personal Philosophy of Success Essay Every individual has their personal philosophy of success. For some, it is based on achieving good grades at school, while others want to achieve a dream, and think of more global non-material things. The common feature of these two ideas lies behind the feeling of success it brings to a person. Definition of success Definition of success can be seen as an introduction to a personal philosophy of success. It is not a secret that people have different definitions of success. In fact, it is closely connected with a dream. If you want to achieve a dream, you have to make efforts and be patient, because nothing comes at once. For example, if your dream is to make a good career or to achieve a higher degree in a certain field, then you have to work your way through difficulties. Everything starts at school, which is one of the important stages of building a career. School, in itself, either a high school or college, gives you knowledge of à a subject and you are the one to absorb the information and show good result in the end. The next stage is your work. At work, you stand several opportunities to put into practice all the information youââ¬â¢ve gotten at school. The going will be rough, and you have to use elbow grease to make your dream come true. There will be many obstacles on your way, that you will have to overcome. For some, this maybe the raising of children, which requires your patience, attention and free time. There are several examples when people sacrificed their career and devoted themselves to their children. However, there is always a reward for the work youââ¬â¢ve done. So may be itââ¬â¢ll mean either a higher work-based degree or a university degree. Or your children will be grateful that they have turned out to be top-of-mind for you instead of a career. That is a one-of-a-kind feeling that parents can express. Another example of a personal philosophy of success may be founded on some character building. It is very common among people to analyze their behavior in several situations trying to form their character, which is also one of the factors that influence the achievement of success and dream. People set goals and try to achieve them, but despite some character or behavior issues they fail. Such cases demand one to build their own strategies on time-management, self-management, and responsibility. Only if you have a clear schedule, where you work, for example, 45 minutes and then make a short break to refresh your mind and recharge batteries, will make your day productive. Furthermore, learn how to be responsible for the things you do and words you say. Responsibility is a feature of every successful person. And speaking of success, it is, of course, necessary to define strategies that everyone should include to their personal philosophy of success. Strategies of a personal philosophy of success Put things in place in your head. If you are hesitating, different thoughts overwhelm you; it is hard to define what is the most important and desirable thing in your life. That is why it is necessary to make it clear for yourself, sort out the priorities and lean toward their achievement. Be resilient. As it has been already mentioned there are and will be a lot of obstacles and distractions on your way. But you should stay resilient and manage to cope with any difficulties at hand. Manage your time. It goes without saying, that time-management is crucial in any business. Especially when it comes to making a career. If you are working long hours every day, there will definitely be a result. But you should also think of a time for yourself. Do not forget that your body needs some rest and fun not only when you have free time for it. Otherwise, you will run yourself ragged trying to do all things at once. Be friendly. .udac062500278ca8f0be30e5db6ec3090 , .udac062500278ca8f0be30e5db6ec3090 .postImageUrl , .udac062500278ca8f0be30e5db6ec3090 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .udac062500278ca8f0be30e5db6ec3090 , .udac062500278ca8f0be30e5db6ec3090:hover , .udac062500278ca8f0be30e5db6ec3090:visited , .udac062500278ca8f0be30e5db6ec3090:active { border:0!important; } .udac062500278ca8f0be30e5db6ec3090 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .udac062500278ca8f0be30e5db6ec3090 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .udac062500278ca8f0be30e5db6ec3090:active , .udac062500278ca8f0be30e5db6ec3090:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .udac062500278ca8f0be30e5db6ec3090 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .udac062500278ca8f0be30e5db6ec3090 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .udac062500278ca8f0be30e5db6ec3090 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .udac062500278ca8f0be30e5db6ec3090 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .udac062500278ca8f0be30e5db6ec3090:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .udac062500278ca8f0be30e5db6ec3090 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .udac062500278ca8f0be30e5db6ec3090 .udac062500278ca8f0be30e5db6ec3090-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .udac062500278ca8f0be30e5db6ec3090:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Self Evaluation EssayBeing friendly is one of the important factors to define your success. It is always nice to be in good relationships with your colleagues and all the people whom you will be meeting on your way. It will be not a problem to ask for their help if anything goes wrong. Look at things adequately. No one is able to achieve their dreams straightway. It works only if you are making small, à but solid steps. A path to success will be full of life lessons that would become your priceless experience. In conclusion, I would advise using these strategies as soon as you get the ball rolling. Having set goals as well as priorities, think of the right way of their achievement. And of course, b ready for some unexpected turns and things that may try to throw you off your stride. So, I wish you to gather your strength and resilience and make the first step towards your dream.

Life Or Death Who Chooses Essays - Fertility, RTT, Abortion
Life or Death: Who Chooses? In Roman times, abortion and the destruction of unwanted children was permissible, but as out civilization has aged, it seems that such acts were no longer acceptable by rational human beings, so that in 1948, Canada along with most other nations in the world signed a declaration of the United Nations promising every human being the right to life. The World Medical Association meeting in Geneve at the same time, stated that the utmost respect for human life was to be from the moment of conception. This declaration was re-affirmed when the World Medical Association met in Oslo in 1970. Should we go backwards in our concern for the life of an individual human being? The unborn human is still a human life and not all the wishful thinking of those advocating repeal of abortion laws, can alter this. Those of us who would seek to protect the human who is still to small to cry aloud for it's own protection, have been accused of having a 19th Century approach to life in the last third of the 20th Century. But who in reality is using arguments of a bygone Century? It is an incontrovertible fact of biological science - Make no Mistake - that from the moment of conception, a new human life has been created. Only those who allow their emotional passion to overide their knowledge, can deny it: only those who are irrational or ignorant of science, doubt that when a human sperm fertilizes a human ovum a new human being is created. A new human being who carries genes in its cells that make that human being uniquely different from any and other human being and yet, undeniably a member, as we all are, of the great human family. All the fetus needs to grow into a babe, a child, an old man, is time, nutrition and a suitable environment. It is determined at that very moment of conception whether the baby will be a boy or a girl; which of his parents he will look like; what blood type he will have. His whole heritage is forever fixed. Look at a human being 8 weeks after conception and you, yes every person here who can tell the difference between a man and a women, will be able to look at the fetus and tell me whether it is a baby boy or a girl. No, a fetus is not just another part of a women's body like an appendix or appendage. These appendages, these perfectly formed tiny feel belong to a 10 week developed baby, not to his or her mother. The fetus is distinct and different and has it's own heart beat. Do you know that the fetus' heart started beating just 18 days after a new life was created, beating before the mother even knew she was pregnant? By 3 months of pregnancy the developing baby is just small enough to be help in the palm of a man's hand but look closely at this 3 month old fetus. All his organs are formed and all his systems working. He swims, he grasps a pointer, he moves freely, he excretes urine. If you inject a sweet solution into the water around him, he will swallaw because he likes the taste. Inject a bitter solution and he will quit swallowing because he does not like the taste. By 16 weeks it is obvious to all, except those who have eyes but deliberately do not see, that this is a young human being. Who chooses life or death for this little one because abortion is the taking of a human life? This fact is undeniable; however much of the members of the Women's Liberation Movement, the new Feminists, Dr. Henry Morgentaler or the Canadian Medical Association President feel about it, does not alter the fact of the matter. An incontrovertible fact that cannot change as feelings change. If abortion is undeniably the taking of human life and yet sincere misguided people feel that it should be just a personal matter between a women and the doctor, there seems to be 2 choices open to them. (1) That they would believe that other acts of destruction of human beings such as infanticide and homicide should be of no concern of society and therefore, eliminate them from the criminal code. This I cannot believe is the thinking of the majority, although the tendency for doctors to respect the selfish desire of parents and not treat the newborn defective with a necessary lifesaving measure, is becoming increasingly more

Biography of Bill Gates, Co-Founder of Microsoft
Biography of Bill Gates, Co-Founder of Microsoft Bill Gates (born Oct. 28, 1955) is the principal co-founder of Microsoft Corp., the worldââ¬â¢s largest personal-computer software company and one of the largest and most influential technology companies in the world. Since he stepped down as chairman of Microsoft Corp., he has focused on and contributed billions of dollars to several charities, especially the Bill Melinda Gates Foundation, the worlds largest private charitable foundation. Fast Facts: Bill Gates Known For: Co-founder of MicrosoftAlso Known As: William Henry Gates IIIBorn: Oct. 28, 1955à in Seattle,à WashingtonParents: William H. Gates Sr., Mary MaxwellPublished Software: MS-DOSSpouse: Melinda French GatesChildren: Jennifer, Rory, PhoebeNotable Quote: I think its fair to say that personal computers have become the most empowering tool weve ever created. Theyre tools of communication, theyre tools of creativity, and they can be shaped by their user. Early Life Bill Gates (full name: William Henry Gates III) was born on Oct. 28, 1955, in Seattle, Washington, the son of William H. Gates Sr., an attorney, and Mary Maxwell, a businesswoman and bank executive who servedà on the University of Washington Board of Regents from 1975 to 1993. He has two sisters. Gates wrote his firstà softwareà program at 13 and in high schoolà was part of a group, which also included childhood friend Paul Allen, that computerized their schoolââ¬â¢s payroll system and developed Traf-O-Data, a traffic-counting system that they sold to local governments. Gates and Allen wanted to start their own company immediately, but Gates parents wanted him to finish high school and go on to college, hoping he eventually would become a lawyer. In 1975 Gates, then a sophomore atà Harvard University in Boston, Massachusetts, joined Allen, who was working as a programmer for Honeywell near Boston, to write software for the firstà microcomputers, later called PCs. They started by adaptingà BASIC, a popular programming language for large computers. Starting Microsoft With the success of this project, Gates left Harvard during his junior year and, with Allen, moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, planning to develop software for the newly emerging personal computer market. In 1975 they started what Allen named Micro-Soft by combining micro from microcomputers and soft from software. The hyphen later was dropped. In 1979, they moved the company to Bellevue, Washington, just east of Seattle. Microsoft became famous for its computer operating systems and killer business deals. In 1980, Gates and Allen licensed anà operating systemà calledà MS-DOSà to IBM, at the time the worlds largest computer maker, for its first microcomputer, theà IBM PC. They were smart enough to retain the right to license the operating system to other companies, which eventually made them a fortune. Finding Success By 1983, the year Allen left the company for health reasons, Microsofts reach had become global with offices in Great Britain and Japan and 30% of the worlds computers running on its software. A few years earlier, Gates had developed a partnership with Apple to work on some shared projects. Gates soon realized that Apples graphics interface, which displayed text and images on the screen and was driven by a mouse, appealed to the average user more than Microsofts text-and-keyboard-driven MS-DOS system. He launched an ad campaign claiming that Microsoft was developing an operating system that would use a graphic interface similar to Apples products. Called Windows, it would be compatible with all MS-DOS system software. The announcement was a bluff- Microsoft had no such program under development- but it was sheer genius as a marketing tactic: It would encourage people using MS-DOS to wait for new Windows software releases instead of changing to another system, such as Apples Macintosh. In November 1985, nearly two years after his announcement, Gates and Microsoft launched Windows.à Then, in 1989, Microsoft launched Microsoft Office, which bundled office applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel into one system. Perils of Success All the while, Gates was defending Microsoft against lawsuits and Federal Trade Commission and Department of Justice investigations of claims charging unfair dealings with computer manufacturers. Yet the innovation continued. Windows 95 was launched in 1995 and in 2001 Microsoft debuted the original Xbox gaming system. Microsoft appeared untouchable. In 2000, Gates stepped down as Microsoft CEO and was succeeded by Harvard friend and longtime Microsoft executive Steve Ballmer. Gates assumed the new role of chief software architect. In 2008 Gates left his daily job at Microsoft but retained his position as board chairman until 2014, when he stepped down as chairman but retained a board seat and began serving as technology adviser. Marriage and Family On Jan. 1, 1994, Gates married Melinda French, who has an MBA and a bachelors degree in computer science and met him while she was working at Microsoft. They have three children- Jennifer, Rory, and Phoebe- and live in Xanadu 2.0,à aà 66,000-square-foot mansion overlooking Lake Washingtonà inà Medina, Washington. Philanthropy Gates and his wife founded the Bill Melinda Gates Foundation with the mission of improving the quality of life for people around the world, primarily in the areas of global health and learning. Their initiatives have ranged from funding tuition for 20,000 college students to installing 47,000 computers in 11,000 libraries in all 50 states. In 2005, Bill and Melinda Gates and rock star Bono were named Time magazine persons of the year for their charitable work. According to the foundations website, in 2019, the foundation had made nearly $65 million in grants by mid-April to recipients around the world. The foundation is led by CEO Sue Desmond-Hellmann and co-chair William H. Gates Sr., under the direction of Bill and Melinda Gates and Warren Buffett. Legacy Back when Bill Gates and Paul Allen announced theirà intention to put a computer in every home and on every desktop, most people scoffed. Until then, only the government and large corporations could afford computers. But within only a few decades, Gates and Microsoft had indeed brought computer power to the people. Gates also has had an impact on millions of people throughout the world with his charitable efforts, especially with the Bill Melinda Gates Foundation, and he has made large personal donations to a number of educational institutions. Are women treated fairly in the workplace Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words
Are women treated fairly in the workplace - Essay Example No matter up to what extent the women are given freedom and the issue of gender discrimination is addressed, women will always have to face gender inequality. Women working in offices have to face a number of problems and issues particularly relating to the wages and job promotions (DeLaat, 1999). The women working in offices claimed that although they work equally as men but they were not given equal pays and privileges like their men counterparts. Many surveys have been conducted in order to find out what women feel regarding their treatment in various workplaces and the conclusion of nearly all the surveys was same, which was that the women felt that they were not being given equal rights, facilities and favors as the men in the same position were being given (Samuels, 1995). The European commission also declared that although much effort has been made to eliminate gender discrimination but women have not being given the equal status as men in the work market. It was also said that although the women work equally as the men, and in fact in some cases the women end up doing more work than men in the same positions, but womenââ¬â¢s work is less valued and is not much appreciated. It is generally considered that women are only capable of doing jobs which are related to care, hospitality, cleaning and social working. Women are usually not hired on managerial positions and other higher posts in the office because it is a general perception that women cannot do such jobs efficiently. Although women have a number of other duties to oblige to apart from work, yet the women put in all their efforts to produce the best work but still it is thought that the women are not able to produce efficient results for the concerned companies (Bradley, 1999). It can be summed up to say that in majority of the cases the women feel that they are not being equally treated and are not being given the same accommodation and convenience as their male
